10 Funny Dog Breeds Sure to Make You Giggle

Our pups can all be goofballs, which is one of the reasons they make our lives so fun… and possibly a little chaotic. There are certain breeds that are more apt to be silly, though. If you’re ready to amp up the laughter from your furry friends even higher, look no further than these funny breeds.

Bichon Frise

The Bichon Frise is fluffy and cute as a button, but that angelic look may mask some hijinks. This breed is known for being very playful, cheerful, and packed with energy. Their big personalities can lend themselves to lots of goofiness, which may be why they were once a very popular companion for European royalty. Their playful shenanigans could even involve the family feline, as this pup is among the dog breeds that get along well with cats.

Boston Terrier

Another cat-loving silly goose is the Boston terrier. These sharp, trainable, high-energy pups are well-mannered, even known as gentlemanly in many circles. Despite this polish, though, they’re also full of mischief and exceptionally gifted at eliciting laughter. As a good-natured family dog that plays well with kids and other pets, they’re apt to bring out affection and some giggles from everyone in the family.

Boxer

Boxers may look formal and sleek, but they’re just a bunch of goofballs, too. These active, high-energy dogs will make sure you get those 10,000 steps each day, but they’ll also give you 10,000 giggles each day. This is partly due to their needy and people-loving nature but also because they tend to be very fun-loving, outgoing, and playful. They’re known to be very affectionate with kids, too, so their human siblings will also get a kick out of them.

Bull Terrier

If there’s a pooch that loves to have some fun, it’s the bull terrier. They may look tough and may be a bit stubborn, but they’re also very comical, entertaining, and ready to play. This is coupled with an inherently sweet nature, which makes them charming, affectionate, and relatively open to strangers, so they’ll have quite the audience for their canine shenanigans.

English Springer Spaniel

The English springer spaniel has a history as a bird dog, so it’s very happy to be given a task related to that, but it’s also ready to blow off some steam and have some fun, especially with its beloved humans. These pups can practically bounce off the walls with their energy, are very enthusiastic, and are incredibly playful. They’re also happy-go-lucky people pleasers who are sure to make any human they encounter stifle some laughter.

Pembroke Welsh Corgi

A corgi’s build may already be a bit silly, with its short legs and sturdy body, but that’s just the beginning of the laughter they can provide. These dogs are very chatty, have a mind of their own, and have lots of energy to expend. They’re also very affectionate and sure to get their humans in on their escapades. They may add even more laughs with their tendency to herd people. Hey, they know what their job is!

Poodle

Poodles are the very picture of elegance, but don’t let their polish confuse you: They’re bursting with silliness, too. These dogs have lots of energy and enjoy expending it into activities like running, swimming, and canine sports, but they also have a history as performing dogs. The latter is a natural fit for them, as they’re very entertaining. This is because of their playfulness, chattiness, exuberance, and neediness.

Pug

Another needy jokester is the pug. These companionable dogs are relatively low energy, but they put a lot of effort into their mischievousness and comedic stylings. They also want nothing more than to be by their people’s sides, are good with kids and other pets, and are very charming, so these dogs are sure to have many witnesses to their giggle-inducing performances.

Siberian Husky

Huskies can be a bit of a handful due to their high energy, their mental stimulation needs, and their stubbornness. However, the right owner may find all this effort worthwhile once their pup’s goofiness rears its head. Huskies are known to be a bit mischievous, ready to howl at a moment’s notice, quite independent, and very fun-loving. They tend to be friendly to a fault, too, so watching them interact with other people may just add onto the fun.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Staffordshire bull terriers may look tough and sturdy, but they’re mostly built with silliness. They require some training, but they love fun, so making that training a bit playful is right up their alley. After that training is over, be sure to continue those games – and ample time together – because nothing makes these terriers happier. They’re gentle with kids, too, so your young family members can enjoy their pup’s jokes as they grow up.
