Woman Finds Her Family's Missing Heirloom Hanging In Client's Home 20 Years Later

A piece of artwork that's been missing for 20 years has been unexpectedly reunited with its rightful owner.

Annie Cunningham, who works for Tidy Casa, a home cleaning service, was cleaning Ryleigh Gleason's home when she recognized a piece of artwork hanging on the wall by the kitchen cabinet.

She immediately realized it was the same artwork that she used to see hanging above her parent's gold velvet couch decades earlier.

The artwork was stitched by Cunningham's grandmother as a gift for her parents when they got married.

When Cunningham's father passed away, belongings from his estate were donated, including this piece of art.

For the next 20 years, Cunningham and her family would have no idea where the artwork had ended up.

During that time, Gleason had seen the art at a Goodwill right down the street from her house and Cunningham's childhood home and ended up buying it to hang in her kitchen.

When Cunningham told Gleason the story behind it, Gleason knew this was meant to be and didn't even hesitate to give the artwork back to its rightful owner.

"I was really, really, really happy to do so, and I feel like it's finally at home. And it took a long way to get to you, but it made its way back," Gleason said to Cunningham.

In return, Cunningham stitched a new piece of art for Gleason's wall to replace it.
