Woman Transforms Garage Into 'Bunny Cafe' To Help Rescue Rabbits Get Adopted

A woman in Medford Lakes, New Jersey, has converted her garage into what she calls a "bunny café" that's full of rescue rabbits just looking for forever homes.

According to ABC 6, realtor Valerie Bertsch purchased a rabbit from a breeder for her birthday. After welcoming the rabbit home, Bertsch was surprised with how the bunny became unmanageable and chaotic.

While the bunny was sweet at first, her behavior changed drastically after a bit of time, and Bertsch was unprepared.

Not sure what to do, she reached out to Tribbles Rabbit Rescue for advice. Apparently, Bertsch's bunny just needed to be fixed, and then her temperament issues dissolved.

Bertsch was incredibly grateful to the rescue for the advice. She wanted to be more involved with the rabbit rescue, so she took on a foster. From there, she started taking on more fosters and eventually dedicated her garage to the cause! She regularly shares about the rescue bunnies on Facebook:

Speaking with the ABC 6, she said: "Bunnies are so clean. They just hop around, use the litter box when they want to...And they're great pets."

Sadly, many people abandon pet bunnies when they no longer want to care for them. The bunnies in Bertsch's care have been rescued from the side of the road, inhumane living conditions and more.

Bertsch welcomes people to her "cafe" where prospective adopters can meet and greet rabbits and get to know more about them. All of her rescue bunnies are available for adoption through Tribbles Rabbit Rescue.
