Cuddly Chihuahua Seeks Forever Home After Being Dumped At A Shelter
A sweet and cuddly chihuahua is looking for a place to call home!
Melvin was abandoned along with his 9-year-old brother, Ricky. Because of Ricky's age, he found a forever home at Hoagie's House, a non-profit dedicated to giving senior rescue pets a place to live out their golden years.

Since Melvin was only 7 years old, he had some hope to be adopted yet.
Mila's Mutts shared about Melvin on Facebook, saying: "Meet Melvin! He is about 7 years old and a small chihuahua at 5 lbs. He is shy at first, but once he comes out of his shell, he is playful, sassy, and cuddly! He will play with small toys that will fit in his mouth, and he has quite the personality! Melvin does well in his crate. He does prefer to have a blanket in there with him though!"
Before he could be adopted, Melvin had some medical issues to address: namely, his teeth.
In late June, Mila's Mutts shared, "He is still on the mend and not ready for adoption yet, but he is making progress in the right direction! It takes an entire community to help dogs in need, and we appreciate you all so much!"

They further explained that Melvin had to have 19 teeth removed!
They rescue group said, "He's recovering well, and we are hoping not having broken and rotten teeth is going to help him start to thrive."

It seems that Melvin has recovered nicely in just a few shorts weeks, and he's now ready for his forever home! Mila's Mutts wrote: "Melvin is a good boy, and he has really started to thrive in his foster home. Loud noises do spook him, but overall we have seen him relax and enjoy life! Melvin is a very gentle player. He prefers to play with toys by himself or with his human. He does like to play fetch with his toys! Melvin doesn't really like to play with other dogs, and doesn't initiate play or enjoy it when another dogs play with him. He is currently fostered with another dog, and we think he'd do well as an only dog or with another low-energy dog that will respect that Melvin doesn't want to play with them."

"He's a great cuddler, and he would love to cuddle up with his forever family," they added. They said, "He enjoys being outside when it's warm and generally prefers to have a blanket with him inside. He is not fostered with young kids, and we do think he would be better suited to a home with adults or older children! Melvin is fostered in Vancouver, WA, and would love to meet you soon!"
At the time of this posting, cuddly Melvin is still looking for his forever family and a place to call home. Interested parties can apply to adopt Melvin here!
