Doctor Creates A Diabetes Song To Teach His Students Life-Saving Information

Many doctors will do what it takes to help their patients. They may even go above and beyond to care for them in ways more than an average doctor does.

You may never have heard about Dr. Jamal Brown before, but he certainly falls into that category. In fact, he has gone viral after creating a song that teaches a lesson on diabetes.

Dr. Brown is a pharmacy professor at Florida A&M University. He works at Tampa General Medical Group Carrollwood Clinic and lives in Tampa. For the past eight years, he has been treating people with diabetes.

One of the people he treated went to seven different doctors before she met Dr. Brown. None of the other doctors were able to assist her, but Dr. Brown helped Angelina Amaro in ways she could never imagine.

In a video shared by The Diabetes Coach, Amaro said that her sugars were about 300 or 400, and she weighed 320 pounds at the time. She explained that she was giving up on life.

After visiting Dr. Brown, Amaro has lost weight and is getting better. She feels that the connection to Dr. Brown is not like a doctor/patient relationship but more like family.

Dr. Brown said in the interview: "That's the thing that I like the most about clinic is being able to connect with patients, talk to them, educate them, and show them how to actually live better."

He also is a doctor that works specifically on diabetes because his mother died from type II diabetes in 2019. He would like the opportunity to counsel his mother with what he has to say because he may have been able to help prevent some of the things that caused her declining health.

One thing that irritates Dr. Brown is the medication that many of his diabetes patients take. They take medicine, but their life hasn't changed.

He considers it a waste of time and even tells the students that if they see somebody picking up insulin at a drugstore, they should approach them with a discussion about carbohydrates and sugars.

That is the lesson that he has put to music, and after appearing on Good Morning America, he has gone viral. It's also something that works for his patients, including Amaro.

Brown never gave up on her and, in the end, saved her life. She said that he inspired her from the video, something that was for his mother.
