Travelers are told not to leave their bags or any of their belongings unattended at the airport - this includes your dog.

However, one woman left her dog tied to a carry-on-baggage sizer when she was denied boarding.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) shared that the two-year-old goldendoodle was found near JetBlue ticket counter inside Terminal 3 at Harry Reid International Airport.

Officers were able to track down his owner who said she left the dog behind when she was unable to board with him due to improper paperwork. According to LVMPD, "When asked why she abandoned the dog, she stated the airline would not allow her to fly with it and claimed the dog had a tracking device — implying it was acceptable to leave the animal behind and it would return to her."

She was arrested for animal abandonment. After a ten-day hold where the owner did not come to claim him, the dog was put up for adoption.

LVMPD Officer Skeeter Black who helped rescue the dog on February 2nd was an approved adopter with Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas and opened his heart and home to the rescued dog. The dog now known as "Jet Blue" has landed in a loving home.

The happy news was shared on LVMPD's Facebook page and they wrote, "What began as a heartbreaking act of abandonment has turned into a powerful example of compassion, teamwork, and community partnership. Today, Jet Blue’s next journey begins this time, surrounded by the people who stepped in when he needed it most."

They also asked people to please be responsible pet owners and said, "We can’t believe we have to say this… but please don’t abandon your dog at the airport — or anywhere else."
