10 Dog Breeds That Drool The Most

Some dog breeds are known for their athletic ability or easy-going temperament, while others are known for putting the "d" in drool.
The most famous slobbery dog has to be Beethoven. The world fell in love with his mischievous actions and big heart, but no one can forget the scene where he slobbers over everything.
While all dogs can drool, those with large jowls are more prone to be slobbery messes. But what's not to love about a big lug with a little dribble?!
Just like dog hair, drool is just part of life if you own one of the following breeds.
Newfoundland
Theses massive dogs are intelligent, love people and are champion droolers. Newfoundlands will drool after eating or drinking, when begging or excited, and when hot.
Saint Bernard
One word...Beethoven. Saint Bernards are also prone to drooling and often have double strings, known as shoestrings, hanging from their jowls.
English Bulldog
English bulldogs drool due to their floppy jowls and facial structure. Some pet owners have suggested using a bandana to help catch some of the slime.
Basset Hound
These adorable dogs will steal your heart with their enormous ears, so you won't mind the slobber on your walls and furniture.
Great Dane
Great Danes are drool kings due to their square jaw and loose lips. The slight slobber issue doesn't stop most people from welcoming the gentle giants into their family.
Bloodhound
These scent hounds are often referred to as "slobberhounds". They are known to leave a trail of slim on clothes and furniture. They counter their slobber with their unwavering love.
Mastiff
If drool bothers you, then a Mastiff is not the dog for you. These large dogs drool a lot, especially after eating and drinking. The solution is to always have a towel on hand.
Boxer
Boxers tend to drool after exercise, eating and drinking, and when begging for table scraps. This Brachycephalic breed is also prone to snoring.
Bernese Mountain Dog
These affectionate pups have a tendency to drool on their humans but how much they slobber depends on their jowls. If your Berner, as they are also called, has loose jowls then expect to see slim dribbling from his mouth.
Dogue de Bordeaux

This is not an all-inclusive list of dog breeds who drool but covers the leaders of the pack. If you are considering adopting one of the above breeds don't be scared off by the slobber. Just be sure to have a rag nearby to wipe off Fido's mouth or the puddle on the floor.
Excessive drooling can be a sign of a health problem so contact your vet with any concerns.
