Having a dog in the family is a great thing for most people; animals are calming, often protective, and fun. We love our animals almost as if they were human children.

But could they be even more than this? Could they help children with disabilities and illnesses? Could they help your child with autism? The answer is a resounding yes!

The research is clear! Dogs are helping kids with autism overcome a lot of obstacles! The world is a scary place for children with autism, but dogs can help calm them and socialize them. Oftentimes, it's much easier for children with autism to get along with animals than it is with human beings.

The PAWS program focuses on training the dogs these families already have which reduces time and cost tremendously. It also aids in cultivating that bond that the child and pet already have.

These children are so brave and having a dog by their side, like a sidekick, just seems like the perfect fit to me! What do you think?

Check out the video below to learn how a couple of cute little dogs changed a couple of young boys' lives (and their families' lives) for the better just by learning a few simple tricks and providing some much-needed companionship.
