Phoenix Fire Department responded to a house fire and managed to save the two dogs trapped inside.

Firefighters managed to rescue the dogs from the burning home who were suffering from smoke inhalation. VCA Animal Hospital shares that severe smoke inhalation can kill a dog within minutes.

These two dogs were saved in time and firefighters immediately used Fido Bags (containing reusable oxygen masks created by The Fetch Foundation designed to fit over the muzzle of animals) to provide emergency oxygen.

Phoenix Fire Department shared a video of firefighters providing oxygen to the dogs and wrote, "Both dogs were revived and transported to an animal hospital for further treatment." 

They appear to have been the only ones home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. They thanked their rescuers with tail wags. 

This is one of the biggest fears for pet owners. One woman commented, "This is truly one of my greatest fears …..that I won’t be home if my house is on fire. I can only pray that the fire dept or my neighbors will be willing to kick my door in to at least give my dogs a chance to get out!"

Other people shared what steps they have taken to avoid this nightmare including security systems that call their fire department when smoke alarms go off and posting a sign in the window alerting firefighters how many animals are in the home.

Firefighters are heroes since they risk their lives to save all living creatures in a fire. Thank you to all involved.
