Hundreds of People in Hard-Hit Georgia Wait in Line for Pet Food
Several states were impacted by the catastrophic Hurricane Helene, including Georgia. People and pets lost their homes and are struggling to make ends meet.
Thanks to your generous support, Greater Good Charities has been on the ground delivering pet food and supplies to the hardest hit areas. Over 25,000 pounds of pet food arrived at Paws, Hearts and Hands of Candler County (PHHCC) where it was quickly distributed to hundreds of impacted families and animal rescue groups.
Roughly six hundred pet owners lined up in their vehicles to get much-needed food for their beloved companion at the rescue's two pet food drives. They patiently waited in their cars - many with their pets - and shared their heartbreaking stories with volunteers handing out the food.
PHHCC shared, " Some told us they are temporarily housing extended family members (and their pets) with not nearly enough pet food to go around. Elderly and disabled people, along with those suffering from chronic illnesses such as diabetes and COPD, have related their struggles to make ends meet and still provide food for their pets. We also learned that, in some cases, this pet food assistance is preventing pet owners from worrying that they might have to surrender their pets."
The donated food was also delivered to rural areas and to elderly people who are unable to leave their homes. These dogs and cats have full bellies thanks to you.
These people and pets have been through a lot and were so thankful for a helping hand. They can rest easy knowing their pet has food to eat and they have essential supplies to get them through this tough time.
Your donations are keeping families together and we want to thank you for your continued support.
The need is still great in many devastated areas. It will take months and even years to rebuild. Please join us in feeding shelter and displaced pets by donating below.
