Madelyn and Chester aren't your typical BFFs. You see, Madelyn is a young girl and Chester is an Argentine black and white tegu.

While it's not unusual for kids to become fast-friends with the family pet, giant lizards aren't typically on the roster for most-snuggly.

However, Madelyn and Chester love to cuddle. In fact, Madelyn shared with The Dodo that Chester is a great cuddle buddy, but he always likes to be the little spoon.

She invites him to nap wit her and he'll even cuddle up at bedtime sometimes!

Speaking with The Dodo, Madelyn explained that Chester's role in their life is "very much like another dog."

She bathes Chester, plays with Chester, and even takes him for walks!

Madelyn's mom, Kathleen, explained that they got Chester after they started volunteering with the Reptile Refuge and Sanctuary. Chester was surrendered to the sanctuary and that's when Kathleen decided to offer him a permanent home.

Chester takes a lot of work, but Kathleen doesn't seem to mind, especially since Madelyn helps out a lot. He's a part of their family, like any other pet would be.
