Hound Dog Who Has Spent Years Waiting At Shelter Is Hoping For A Home For Christmas

Update: Beau has been adopted by his foster family and he couldn't be happier.

One of the longest residents at NYC Second Chance Rescue Center is hoping for a Christmas miracle.

The handsome 5-year-old hound mix has been at the shelter for the past two years patiently waiting for his person. He has watched countless dogs find homes and wonders when it will be his turn.

He is appropriately named Beau because he is the perfect partner - affectionate, playful, and will never leave your side. With his good looks and manners, the shelter team doesn't understand why he hasn't been adopted.

A few weeks ago, he was taken in by Ally, a former Rescue Center staff member, as a foster. The sweet pup is enjoying life inside a home and has been on his best behavior.

His foster mom shared, "When I began fostering Beau, he had no idea what it meant to be a dog."

Beau had always been inside a kennel and had to learn about all the amazing things like soft dog beds and squeaky toys.

Ally said, "It took him two weeks to settle and sleep on a dog bed; three weeks to be comfortable enough to grab a toy from the toy box. It was a whole month before his true colors started to show, and never have I met a dog so grateful for every moment spent next to a human he trusted."

Beau now spends his days playing with his canine friends and cuddling at night with his foster family. He aims to please and would love to find a forever home before the holidays.

"He is so ready to become a part of someone’s family. Beau is somebody’s dream dog - they just haven’t found him yet," stated his foster family.

Beau gets along well with other dogs of all sizes, walks nice on a leash, and is the perfect gentleman. Plus, he has the most adorable markings.

Does he sound like the perfect dog for you? Learn more about how to adopt him here.

Consider adopting a senior pet because as NYC Second Chance Rescue says, "Love never grows old - it only grows stronger".

Beau deserves a home of his own. He's microchipped, neutered, and up to date on his shots. All he needs is a family of his own. Share his story to help him find his happily ever after.
