Meet heroes who risked their lives again and again to save homeless animals in Ukraine. 

Yana and her husband have been caring for their own animals and countless others that were abandoned when their village was bombed. They remained to care for the innocent animals until all the bridges and crossings were destroyed. 

As the bombings increased and the area became too dangerous to stay, the couple loaded up animals in their car to evacuate them. 

However, during one of the evacuations their car was hit and became unusable. These heroes refused to give up and found another way to transport the animals to safety. 

"They began using a handcart, risking their lives each time as they navigated the dangerous route, rescuing both cats and dogs, including the elderly and sick animals. When even the cart became too difficult to manage, Yana switched to a bicycle. Each morning, she and her husband set out on this perilous journey, determined that none of the abandoned animals would be left behind, " shared United for Animals (UfA). 

The rescue recently took in four of the elderly dogs the couple was caring for and is providing all the food and care they need, thanks to your continued support.
