Teen Lifeguards Run Into Ocean After Plane Crashes Into Water Right In Front Of Them

Two junior lifeguards were walking along the shore on Huntington Beach in California when they unexpectedly witnessed a small plane crash into the ocean nearby.

The 15-year-old lifeguards, Jake Shaffer and Aidan Arie, immediately jumped into action.

Aidan ran to the water line where the plane was, grabbed a board and quickly paddled out into the ocean, while Jake got his board and swam behind him as fast as he could.

When they reached the plane, they got the pilot onto Jake's board. Jake noticed a small cut on his head and kept asking him if he was OK.

"We were just going over these things in captain's about trying to learn information about the person. What could have happened. He didn't want to talk. He was sitting there frozen on the board," Jake told NBC LA.

They were then joined by other lifeguards who assisted in the rescue, helping the boys carry the pilot to shore.

The pilot, who was the only one on board the plane, was thankfully OK and brought to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

He is definitely lucky to be alive, as this crash could have been much worse. The outcome could have also been much different if the teen lifeguards were not there to help the pilot so quickly after the crash.

These lifeguards may be young, but they've already proven how great they are at rescuing those in danger in the water.
