Mama Dog and Nine Newborn Puppies Rescued from Destroyed Ukraine Village
Andrea Powell
Villages that were once home to countless people and pets in Ukraine are now piles of rubble. While most people have fled conflict zones, there are still some animals left behind trying to survive in the war-torn buildings.
Krystina, owner of Under the Sun Shelter, continues to get calls to help these abandoned animals. Even though her shelter is full with over 250 dogs, she shows up to rescue those in need.

A mama dog was found in one of the only still-standing sheds with her nine newborn puppies. A local who spotted her left her what little scraps of food they could spare.
Krystina arrived just in time to save them. She told us that the main "dog hunter" in the country wanted to poison them.

Mama was relieved when help arrived and watched as Krystina loaded her puppies into a box to be transported to the shelter.

She followed close behind, never letting her precious babies out of her sight. They are all finally safe. With your continued support, she and her puppies will get the food and care they need to survive and thrive.
