Authorities Ask For Public's Help Catching Man Seen On Camera Abusing Puppy
Multiple Ring doorbell cameras captured a sickening moment a man abused his puppy, and now the authorities are seeking the public's help in identifying the man.
According to a news release from the Humane Rescue Alliance, the incident occured at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, March 28 in Southeast D.C.
The culprit was walking the dog near Pomeroy road and Sheridan road when the pup suddenly stopped walking.
Instead of being reasonable and allowing the dog to sniff around or gently trying to coax is forward, the man grabbed the dog and body-slammed it to the ground. As if that weren't enough, the man then proceeded to kick the dog and drag it, as it cried out in pain.
Some people in the area heard the dog's cries and that's what prompted them to check their Ring camera security footage and discover the horrible incident that'd occurred. After a video of the incident was shared on Ring's Neighbors platform, it quickly gained attention from authorities and the general public.
People couldn't understand how someone could be so cruel to a dog, and author Don Winslow even came forward with a $20,000 reward for information leading to the culprit's arrest and conviction.
A member of the public also stepped forward and partnered with the Humane Rescue Alliance to add an additional $2,500 to the reward, bringing the total reward to $22,500 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person in the Ring footage.
While authorities are still working on the case, multiple people have submitted Ring camera footage to help identify the person in question and hopefully get the dog to a safe place.
