Owl Loves Playing with Human Sisters and Picking Them Up from School

Most of us have only ever seen owls high up in trees in the wild or at zoos or wildlife refuges. Sometimes they can be viewed in cities and suburbs as well. But have you ever seen an owl chilling in a car? Or in a child's bed? Yeah, we hadn't either. Until now.

One particular female owl named Michael imprinted on her human family when she was a very young rescue owl in the process of rehabilitation, leaving her unreleasable despite the beautiful recovery she made. Now she loves playing with her sisters and even picking them up from school in her mom's car.

Just wait until you see the video below. This owl is somewhere between a sibling and a pet for her mom's two young daughters. She loves to play, she preens the girls' hair, she sits next to them while they do their homework, and she even cuddles with them. She has no fear or defensiveness when she's around them and seems to view them as her own siblings or maybe even as her babies.

Of course, it's not a great idea for the average person to own and live with an owl. Michael's mom holds both a federal and a state license that allow her to handle and work with birds of prey in a setting like this, and she's very careful to be aware of the animals' natural instincts and behaviors. She never allows Michael to be around her daughters unsupervised, which is a good rule to have no matter what type of pet you own, but it is especially important with undomesticated animals like owls.

However, despite her wild nature, Michael has shown herself to be fantastically gentle and patient. She has never lashed out against the girls for any reason, and she's more mild-mannered in her interactions with children than even some dogs we've seen.

Check out the video below to see Michael's incredible life and her unique experiences with her happy little family. We're so happy that her story turned out this way, despite its rough beginning. Watch now!

What do you think about having an owl as a pet? Does this look like a dream come true? What would you most want to do with your owl if you had one?
