Actor Penn Badgley Reveals He Had To Be Revived Multiple Times As A Baby

36-year-old Penn Badgley has given us some interesting information about his younger life. He said that his mother would have to resuscitate him several times a day when he was younger.

Badgley had his fair share of health issues as a baby born two months premature. During his first couple of weeks, he was in the NICU because he had a problem with his lungs and heart stopping several times per day, according to Insider.

While he was in the hospital, the doctors would revive him, but they taught his mother how to do the same. She would be able to revive her son after taking him home.

The Gossip Girl actor said that his mother would have to do it multiple times daily because his heart and lungs would stop. According to the Daily Mail, he said, "I was on a monitor that would just beep very loudly. The first time she had to do it was on the way home from the hospital when I was released from the NICU."

He would have to be hooked up to a monitor, even in a car seat. When the monitor would go off, someone would have to touch him to revive him. It didn't take much more than human touch in many cases.

As he grew older, Badgley said that his condition faded away. It continued to impact him and his perception of parenting and death. He now has his own son, a two-year-old, with his wife, Domino Kirke.

Badgley said: "The effect that it's had on me at least in a sort of emotional way is that I'm extremely sensitive to touch, I've just noticed that in my life." He described it as being very aware of anytime somebody touches him.

He also admits that the topic of death doesn't frighten him. He feels this has a lot to do with his earlier experiences, and having his own son has given them even more perspective.

According to Insider, he summed things up, saying: "Thinking of my toddler now, I'm realizing it actually did affect me. It affected my sense of what life is like, what life is not like."
