Pet Food is Starting to Reach Devastated Areas in Ukraine
Andrea Powell
We asked for your help to feed the hungry dogs and cats in war-torn Ukraine, and you delivered!
Pet food supplies are still low but with your generous support thousands of homeless animals in shelters and being cared for by locals are getting the food they need to survive.
In a time of war when there is so much heartbreak, loss, and tragedy, but there are still people who will risk their lives to save animals left behind. Heroes like Krystina at Under the Sun, a woman named Kateryna, and countless more.

Over 250 dogs at Under the Sun shelter are devouring the nutritious food. Krystina and the dogs are beyond grateful for your support. It is one less thing she has to worry about.

In some of the hardest hit areas are abandoned animals trying to survive. When thousands of people were forced to evacuate, some were not able or did not take their animals with them. Greater Good Charities' partner United for Animals (UFA) shared, "Some were released with a quiet whisper, 'Forgive me, now you must learn to survive on your own.' But in the midst of this darkness there is light. That light is Kateryna Andreeva, a woman who feels the pain of abandoned animals as if it were her own. She drives into frontline communities, risking her life to save those who cannot speak for themselves."

Kateryna enters the war zones to provide food to the survivors and show these animals that someone cares. She does her best to provide treatment and find homes for them all. The donated food she received will help feed those left behind and give them hope that brighter days are ahead.

UFA shared a post of more animal caretakers near frontlines who received donated pet food to feed all the animals in their care. Thank you for your continued support that is saving lives.
While the stomachs of homeless animals are full at the moment, they will quickly devour the donated food and need more in the months to come. Please help feed the abandoned and stray animals in Ukraine by donating now.
