Pit Bull Saves Family From Burning House In Tennessee

Dogs are not only man's best friend, but also protector of the family. They save our lives in more than one way.

A pit bull named Jack is a hero for saving his sleeping family from their burning home. He sensed something was wrong and alerted his dad.

It all took place in the early morning hours on Tuesday in Chattanooga, Tennessee. A fire started in the home and Jack went to his dad and started licking his face to wake him up. His dad smelled smoke and quickly woke the rest of the family. Everyone escaped just in time as the house became engulfed in flames.

Chattanooga Fire Department arrived to fight the raging fire and spent the next several hours containing it. The home was lost but no one was harmed.

The fire department shared the story on Facebook and wrote, "Thanks to their dog, they all got out alive as flames engulfed the residence."

They went on to share how intense the fire was. "Engine 9 could see black smoke from their fire hall as they were responding to the call and as they approached the scene, they could see flames extending 15 feet above the house. Engine 9 reported a fully involved house fire with multiple exposures."

Jack is a hero, and another example of why you should adopt a pit bull. There are thousands of pit bull in shelters across the country waiting for a family to love and protect.

Several people commended both Jack and the firefighters for their heroic efforts. One person wrote, "Pitties are amazing!!! The OG true protector. This is amazing!! Jack deserves a nice steak tonight for being a hero. That could've ended waaayy worse. On a side note: Check your smoke detectors folks. Make sure they work. Tis the season for heaters."
