Miracle Puppy Defies The Odds After Being Shot In Neck With Arrow
When a California woman heard a stray puppy crying for help one night, she went outside to see what was wrong.
But the distressed puppy's plight was much worse than she could have ever imagined. The woman quickly discovered a tiny Chihuahua puppy shot through the neck with an arrow.
"For someone to willfully shoot this poor pup with an arrow is disgusting," Animal Services Director Erin Gettis told ABC 7 News. "We are shocked, and we hope someone can provide us any information as to who did this."
The four-month-old puppy was quickly rushed to the nearest animal hospital for emergency treatment, where vets made a shocking discovery. Somehow, the arrow had missed the puppy’s vital organs, which is nothing short of a miracle.
Despite the gravity of her wounds, the miracle puppy is expected to make a full recovery.
But even though the puppy is expected to survive this brutal attack, people are still struggling to understand how someone could do this to an innocent animal.
"She is such a sweet puppy," said veterinary technician Emily Ellison, who has been caring for the injured stray. "I cannot imagine why anyone would do something so terrible to such an innocent creature. It's very sick."
When the puppy is feeling better, she'll be put up for adoption. Meanwhile, police are searching for the person behind this grisly crime. Please contact the Department of Animal Services at 951-358-7387 if you have any information.
