A terrified llama named Shakira is slowly starting to trust again after being mistreated for years.

Shakira and three other abused llamas were rescued by Pasado's Safe Haven from a terrible neglect case. The 85-acre sanctuary located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Washington is home to roughly 200 animals -dogs, cats, and farm animals- rescued from cruelty and neglect situations.

@pasados Replying to @user7847277955681 We brought Shakira in from a neglect case along with 3 other #llamas. They were all extremely nervous and had to learn how to eat food essentially from scratch. They've all been recovering with us ever since! #animalrescue #rescuellama #shakirashakira #animalsanctuary #hopecore #foryou #fyp #farmsanctuary #llama ♬ this feeling - Øneheart

Four words are told to each rescued animal as they enter the sanctuary, "now you are safe."

Shakira arrived matted with untreated wounds from a dog attack and severely malnourished. She was in desperate need of medical care and emotional support.

Due to her past experience, she had lost faith in humans, but is slowly starting to trust again. Her wounds - inside and out- are healing. Thanks to the dedicated and compassionate team at Pasado's she is coming out of her shell and becoming more social every day.

The sweet llama quickly made friends with a flock of sheep that follow her and graze alongside her.

Her rescuers continue to provide updates on Shakira's progress and a recent video posted on TikTok shows how happy she is in her new home.

Dogs are not the only animals who get a case of the zoomies when they are excited. Apparently, llamas do too.

@pasados Shakira's got the zoomies!! If you're able to show her a little extra love, her and the other llama boys that came home from this rescue are in need of new hanging feeders. They help make eating more comfortable and accessible for them! Wlsh Iist is in our bIo. Thank you so much for all the support 💚💚 #RescueAnimals #RescueJourney #AnimalSanctuary #AnimalRescue #AnimalWelfare #fyp #foryou #viral #hopecore #hopeful #zoomies #rescuellama #emotionalvideo #shakira #recovery #shakirashakira ♬ Married Life (From "Up") - Gina Luciani

Shakira is seen racing around her enclosure with her sheep friends and the video is sure to bring a smile to your face.

She is finally safe and living her best life. She is now the guardian and friend to a herd of sheep and goats.

Her caretakers said, "She has come a long way and is finally relaxed and brave. We are so proud of her!"

The other three rescued llamas - Shaggy, Lenny, and Ace - are doing well and are called the "Pasado's boys". Check them out below.

Be sure to follow Pasado's Safe Haven for more updates and click here to learn how you can help care for Shakira and the other rescued animals.
