Bishop is a tidy polite gentleman, and he believes in being properly outfitted in a bowtie for his management career.

As Chief Executive of his household, he sets a full agenda, and we underlings must check all boxes for the day to be a success. He is living the life he deserves after his sad neglected past, and we are only too happy to carefully follow his directives.

A stretchy wake up, then the morning ritual. Bishop curls up for lap time with Jim for at least two hours, cozily reassured that he is loved and in charge. Next up: a 1.5-hour walk on one of several routes he chooses, where he contributes essence of Bishop to innumerable trees and street lamps. Back home, vanilla gelato water (don’t ask), then to the back of the couch for deer or delivery driver sentinel duty. Pickup naps here and there, then out for the afternoon half-hour sniffari. Back to the couch to administer more household protection.

Dinnertime brings doggie stew with a weekly treat of pizza bites, followed by essential squeak toy time, which precedes TV time with its tiny gelato and kibble snacks. A pre-bedtime doze and pee and then a high jump onto the dog-printed comforter gracing our bed, and a deep sleep. We breathe sighs of relief: once again, goals have been met, and we’ve passed the Bishop test.

Bishop is a little renaissance man. Despite his grueling schedule and the serious nature of his work, Bishop still finds time for his other interests, like modeling his new Irish wool throw, or hanging out with his girlfriend Crickette, or practicing his version of moonwalking. Did he ever think in those dark unloved misunderstood days of old that the sun could ever shine so brightly for him?
