Meet Bolt.
She showed up over three and a half years ago while I was feeding a sweet little orange boy named Marmadude. She would come and eat whatever he hadn’t finished. Soon, she started coming more often. Some days she would eat two cans of food plus crunchies.

If I came anywhere near her, she would take off like a “bolt” of lightning and hide in the street culverts. Eventually, she learned her name and would pop up from the storm drain and croak because she didn’t know how to meow properly.
Fast forward two and a half years. I was diagnosed with colon cancer and began undergoing chemotherapy. Making sure my little Boltie was fed got me out of bed twice a day.
On January 15, 2025, she let me pet her for the first time.
Now she has full conversations with me, climbs into my lap for snuggles and kisses. This sweet little girl gave me something to focus on besides feeling awful from chemo.
I love her more than words can express — and she loves me.
