I actually have two rescues. The first is a tuxedo cat with only one eye. After seeing his picture, I knew I had to rescue him. I worried that no one would want him since he was a black cat and only had one eye.

My second rescue is Frankie. We saw a post on Nextdoor about a stray dog limping near someone’s home and sleeping in the dirt by her fence for days. Animal control had been called, but they couldn’t come for several days.
I was supposed to foster another dog, but that fell through. Then another dog was adopted before I could get there. I now understand why. I was at the shelter trying to find another dog to foster when I saw Frankie’s picture and realized he was there. It felt meant to be.

He was placed on a mandatory stray hold, so I waited until his time was up and then adopted him. He came with some serious issues. His right leg was dislocated, and he was heartworm positive. The shelter said they could amputate his leg, or I could consult a vet to see if it could be saved.
His leg was saved with surgery, and he will never have to sleep in the dirt against a fence again. 🐾
