At work one day, I was called by our shop. Yet another kitten had been found. Jack (aka Peter Parker) was found in the engine compartment of a forklift. He was covered in grease, oil and fleas.

I wrapped him up, gave him a little food and kept him under my desk in a box until it was time to go home. He was content and slept.
Once home, he received a three shampoo bath in Dawn to remove the grease and oil. His bath was supervised by Lucy the Labrador, who never took her eyes off her. (Yes, Jack turned out to be a girl.) Once dried, with help from Lucy and me, he jumped out of my lap and under the dog's feet and and started playing. No fear, just happy to be safe, warm and full.

My plan was to find Jack a home. You see, our shop has feral cats in the area. We have been unable to catch them to get them spayed, so we have found about 20 kittens homes in the past couple of years. My plan went awry, though. I fell in love.
She now has three other rescues to call family: Lucy the Labrador, Finn the Coonhound and George, a kitten from last year that I was also supposed to find a home but could not part with. Although her story turned out well, there are many that don't. Please spay and neuter your animals.
