I started volunteering for the cat adoptions at the PetSmart near our house right in the middle of kitten season, and we had many kittens passing through. They would usually get adopted within a week or two. For some reason, that wasn't the case for these two sweet orange boys, Malbec and Beaujolais, named after wine.

They came in at about 8 weeks old around June. All summer, I played with them and showed them off to adopters, but no one adopted them. It was either "I don't want an orange cat" or "Oh, they're too cute together. I don't want to separate them."
All of us volunteers grew sadder watching these two boys getting passed by again and again. If only we could get one adopted, the second one would go quickly.
As time went on, I grew closer and closer to these two boys. Then finally one day, I convinced my husband to let me adopt Malbec. Because Beaujolais was more playful, we assumed he'd go right away after Malbec was adopted.

So, we went in to find that he had just been adopted 30 minutes prior to our arrival. I was so happy I cried. A week later, Beau was adopted to a wonderful family with kids and another cat.
Well, just the other day, a month after being adopted, Malbec was returned. It broke my heart. The lady who adopted him was a dog person and decided she didn't like caring for a cat. So the day that Malbec came back to PetSmart, I took him home.

He now has three kitty siblings and two doggy siblings and he is doing so well. All this poor kitty wanted was a loving home, and now he has one. I absolutely adore this cat and shower him with love and cuddles. I believe it was a sign from God when he was returned that he was meant to be mine.
