Two wonderful Texas rescue dogs arrived in Canada years apart through the same rescue organization, and somehow found their way not only to us, but to each other.

They have filled our hearts and our home with more joy than we ever could have imagined. Watching their bond grow has been one of the sweetest gifts. They have become each other's absolute best friends, playmates, comfort, partners in everything and, truly, each other's family.

We may have rescued them, but the love they brought into our lives is something we never could have planned for.

I always joke that I literally got my dog a dog, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions we've ever made. Seeing what adoption has given them, and what they have given us in return, has made me an even stronger advocate for rescue and adoption.

There are so many beautiful souls simply waiting for someone to choose them. We will absolutely continue to adopt because, after experiencing this kind of love, I can't imagine doing it any other way.
