We had finally moved into our own home, and my sons decided they wanted a dog. So we went from shelter to shelter looking for the “right” one. We found him at the SPCA. He had been abandoned and was so skinny and timid. He had big ears that reminded the boys of Yoda, so Yoda he became.

We’ve had him for nine years now, and he has even moved across the country with us.
A few years later, I went to the pet store to get dog food for Yoda. The store was having an adoption event, and there was a litter of puppies in a corral. Five were sleeping, while one was running around trying to wake up his littermates.
I walked by, and he jumped up against the pen. I picked him up, and he immediately snuggled into me like a baby. That was that. He went home with me.
Keeping with the theme, his name is Anakin. He’s five now and still as hyper, goofy, and snuggly as ever.
I’m also adopting two kittens from a friend in California. They were hand-raised, and their names are Luke and Leia. I can’t wait to get them home.
My boyos, as they are known, are the sweetest things.
When my grandson was born, Yoda sniffed him from head to toe and then lay down beside him as if to say, “This is MY baby.”
Anakin and my grandson are best buddies. They hang out together in Ani’s crate, and Ez even feeds him by hand. Just imagine a 20-pound toddler and a 60-pound dog together. Ez can do just about anything he wants to Ani.
I can’t imagine life without my boyos. They bring so much sunshine into our lives!
