Shelly’s mom was an overbred breeder dog. My brother rescued her — her name is Shay — but she was already pregnant at the time. On November 30, 2014, she gave birth to a litter of six puppies: five boys and one girl, Shelly.

When the breeder found out, legal action was taken to try to reclaim the puppies, especially the only female. I made multiple trips from Virginia, where I live, to Georgia, where my brother lives, to make sure that I kept Shelly so she would never have to be bred.
