Dog Who Lost All Her Puppies is Now Thriving as a Therapy Dog, Thanks to You

RockySpot Rescue
When Sadie was first saved by RockySpot Rescue, she was a scared, skinny new mother who had given birth in a crowded shelter. The little family had also been put on the euthanasia list. When they were then taken in by RockySpot, it looked like their luck had finally changed. Unfortunately, that wasn’t quite the case.
The rescue says, “Unknowingly, the puppies were exposed to distemper at birth and despite doing everything possible, slowly, but with a lot of love and full bellies, they succumbed to the disease. This sent the nearly feral Sadie into a deep depression.”
This took time, comfort, and care to overcome. Through donated supplies from The Animal Rescue Site and Greater Good Charites’ GOODS program, RockySpot was able to provide a bed, toys, and quality food to Sadie as she nursed her broken heart. She even treated the toys as her “babies”, so she had something to care for.

The rescue says the money the donations helped save on dog food, one of the biggest costs for shelters, went to the health care Sadie needed to get prepared for her happily ever after.
When Sadie was ready for the next phase in her life, she found her forever home. These days, she gets to enjoy wildlife watching during walks, including spotting/wanting to race neighborhood deer. She’s even – unsuccessfully - tried her paw at fishing. As for the help she received in the past, she’s decided to pay it forward – She does therapy work at nursing homes!
RockySpot says, “Without the support of the GOODS Program… we would not have been able to try to save these pups from the shelter and show them love and affection for once in their lives. This also allows us to provide better health and shelter care for all the animals in our program. Thank you, GOODS Program!”
