Senior Street Cat Who Never Stopped Fighting is Finally Safe
Andrea Powell
From scrounging for food scraps and fighting for shelter to bowls full of food and a soft, safe place to rest. This is Barnaby's story. The senior fella has lived his entire life on the streets and managed to survive. However, it is not without scars, and his wounded and weathered body tells the tale.

He was taken in by Dolly's Cat Sanctuary and Rescue in need of medical care. The open wounds on his face and body were treated and bloodwork was performed. He has been in survival mode for so long that his exhausted body collapsed once he knew that he was safe. He was dehydrated, malnourished, and immediately started on fluids and antibiotics.

After a couple nights in the hospital, he started to perk up. He was released into a loving foster home where he is learning to live indoors, and he is loving it. While still unsure about new people and animals, he is learning that he no longer has to hunt for food or be on the lookout for threats. He devours the donated cat food and is learning to use a litter box, which was also donated along with various litter.

The rescue shared, "Barnaby sleeps deeply. He hides less each day. He loves giving head bumps to his foster mom every morning. Every donated bag of food. Every container of litter. Every small act of support gives cats like Barnaby space to heal — physically and mentally. Barnaby still has a journey ahead before he’s adoption-ready. But beneath the scars and tomcat cheeks is a gentle cat who simply needed safety long enough for his nervous system to believe the danger was over."

Your donations have changed his life and he is forever grateful. Help more senior cats get the care and supplies they deserve will they wait for a forever home by donating here.
