20-Year-Old Dog Left To Fend For Himself On The Street Finds Loving Home

Senior dogs deserve to live out their golden years in a loving home, not discarded on the street like trash.

Sadly, many older dogs are abandoned or surrendered.

True Faithful Pet Rescue Mission based in Venice, Florida, focuses on rescuing senior dogs and finding them forever homes. It is heartbreaking how many senior dogs are abandoned by their owners when they need them the most.

The rescue recently took in a 20-year-old Chihuahua mix named Sawyer who was found wandering the busy streets. They brought the sweet fella to the vet to be examined and treated.

"Speaking with our incredible vet his eyes were like jelly and infected.... They were both removed along with dental and neutered!! He is doing absolutely fantastic," shared the rescue in an update.

Things were starting to look up for Sawyer and then something happened that made his rescuers "jump for joy". A kind woman came forward to adopt him.

The rescue posted a photo of Sawyer and his new mom with the caption, "Let’s give this adoption a standing ovation. One man’s trash is another’s treasure! Sawyer at 20 years old will live his best life!"

The senior dog is thrilled to be in a loving home and is showing his appreciation with kisses. He will spend the rest of his days napping on a soft bed surrounded by people who love him.

Older dogs have so much love to give and just want to be loved unconditionally. Please consider adopting a senior. Check out more adoptable dogs at True Faithful Pet Rescue or head to your local shelter.
