Animal shelters in the South are overcrowded, overwhelmed, and in need of help to save lives. As new animals continue to arrive, highly adoptable animals are at risk of euthanasia due to lack of resources and adopters.

Colt

This sweet, energetic, and playful Australian cattle dog was found as a stray but would definitely be the "class clown" at school. The young dog loves everyone he meets, including other dogs and cats. He is ready to leave the shelter behind and give his heart to a family of his own. 

His caretakers shared, "He's outgoing enough to light up any room. Calm enough to settle into a home. Smart enough to tell you exactly what he needs. Colt is the whole package — and he is ready for the family that has been waiting for exactly him."

Portabella

The handsome brown tabby took some time to adjust to shelter life. The three-year-old has started to show his true personality, which is a total sweetheart. He is ready to love someone unconditionally and get the same in return. In a yearbook, he would be most likely to rule the world - in a good way. 

His current shelter said, "He finds you, he demands pets, and when you slow down even slightly he takes matters into his own hands. Or rather his own head. The head butt is Portabella's signature move and it is absolutely, completely, one hundred percent irresistible. More pets. Now." 

Potato

His life had a rough start where he was not properly cared for. Despite that, he remains a friendly and happy fella who just wants to find his person. The young terrier mix lives each day to the fullest eager to find a home. 

He would be named as the most likely to make you smile and become a superhero. 

According to his shelter, "Potato greets every single day like it is the best one yet and shares that joy so freely and genuinely that it is simply impossible not to smile in his presence."

Wigeon

This four-year-old hound mix has a unique name to go with his unique look. He is asymptomatic heartworm positive and will receive treatment at his new shelter before being adopted. 

Wigeon would be a teacher's pet but also most likely to lick your face. 

His caretakers state, "Wigeon is the kind of dog that fills a room with warmth the moment he walks in — friendly with everyone, generous with his affection, and ready to play at a moment's notice with that goofy, loveable energy that makes him completely impossible to resist. He is equal parts sweet and silly and the combination is absolutely devastating in the best possible way."
