Meet Shelter Dogs Waiting To Catch Their Flight To Freedom

More and more dogs are arriving at shelters that are already over capacity. Many highly adoptable pets are at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space and adopters.

That is why every month we sponsor a Flight to Freedom with Greater Good Charities' Good Flights. This month's flight will take roughly 50 dogs from overcrowded Alabama and Louisiana shelters and fly them to shelter in Wisconsin with open kennels and adopters waiting to meet them.

Meet some of the good boys and girls waiting to board this month's flight.

Good News

This sweet fella is currently at Iberville Parish Animal Shelter who told us how he got his name. "One morning shelter staff came in to find a small terrier mix in our overnight surrender pen. When kennel attendants went to remove the small dog, a large black and white dog emerged from the dog house within the pen! The big dog approached the kennel attendant and the small terrier just wagging his tail politely. 'Good news, this big guy gets along with small dogs!'"

But the good news kept on coming...

"Days passed and our volunteer who does behavioral testing and evaluation got an opportunity to work with the large black and white dog. It was good news again, he is smart! His shiny black and white coat, and all the good news surrounding him helped him earn the name Good News."

This energetic dog arrived as a stray, so his past is unknown. What we do know is that he will have a bright future in Wisconsin.

A litter of five adorable Labrador retriever mix puppies will also be passengers on the flight. Their sweet faces and wagging tails are sure to win the heart of everyone they meet.
