When you’re out for a swim in the ocean, you probably want to avoid a shark bite, but a camera wasn’t so lucky recently.
Earlier this month, Instagram user Andréa Ramos Nascimento shared a video from a recent diving trip that has since gone viral for its shark star.
The caption reads simply, “Today the tiger shark tried to eat the Insta360 lol”.
The short clip shows a diver setting up the camera as a shark approaches and keeps nipping at it. After a couple of tries, the shark successfully nabs it, swims away, and swallows it. What transpires over the rest of the video makes for some crazy footage.
The camera goes back and forth, with views outside the shark’s jaws. At one point, you can see the divers looking at the camera through the shark’s open mouth, a view many of the commenters said would make for a great framed photo.
After a fairly short time, the shark spits the camera out, prompting the diver to rush for it, but the shark races him to it, possibly regretting letting go of its snack. Ultimately, though, the camera returns to its rightful owner and escapes another trip inside a shark.
Instagram users quite enjoyed the video, which has well over 200,000 likes. Some of the top comments add onto the entertainment. User @bre_burns said, “The race for the camera again at the end was the underwater equivalent of and [sic] owner racing its dog to something to [sic] dog shouldn’t have,” while @rushing.river.works utters a pet or toddler parent’s go-to phrase: “WHAT DO YOU HAVE? WHAT’S IN YOUR MOUTH???”

Ultimately, we can all appreciate the experience, as user @doraaa_966 points out, “Now we all know what it looks like to be swallowed by a shark.”
