Shelter Life Is Taking A Toll On 2-Year-Old Jalen

Shelter Life Is Taking A Toll On 2-Year-Old Jalen

Dogs are man's best friend and just want to be with their humans at all times. Shelter life is hard on dogs as they are alone with limited interaction and exercise, surrounded by strange noises and unfamiliar people.

Shelters do their best to spoil each dog, but nothing takes the place of a loving home. Some dogs are able to adjust to shelter life better than others, but it takes a toll on all.

An animal shelter in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida - Humane Society of Broward County - posted a video of how the stress of shelter life has caused 2-year-old Jalen to develop an eye infection.

Her eye is being treated with antibiotics and will fully recover, but she is depressed. The sweet pup was found as a stray and since arriving at the shelter has won the hearts of staff and volunteers with her "spunky personality", but she is starting to lose hope as the weeks go by.

The shelter shared the heartbreaking clip on TikTok of Jalen in her kennel and wrote, "Shelter life is hard. And it's showing on 2-year-old Jalen..."

What Jalen really needs is a loving family of her own. Learn more about how you can adopt her here.

Grab a tissue and check out the video below. Don't forget to share it to help Jalen find her forever home. Adopting saves the lives of two dogs and is why you should always adopt not shop!

@humanebroward Shelter life is hard 😔 And it’s showing on 2-year-old Jalen. This gorgeous girl was found as a stray and then left in the back of our property. We have all fallen for her spunky personality, but the weeks are taking their toll on her and she has developed an eye infection 💔 Our veterinary staff is treating her with antibiotics and her eye should heal completely, but what she really needs is a new life away from all the stress 🙏 #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #dog #dogsoftiktok #shelterdog #adoptme ♬ original sound - Humane Society Broward County
