The beautiful wild horses that roam the beaches of the Outer Banks in North Carolina welcomed ten healthy foals so far this year.

The Colonial Spanish Mustangs (often referred to as Bankers) roam over 7,500 acres of public and private land where they live, eat, and give birth.

Their behavior, well-being, and safety are monitored and protected by the non-profit Corolla Wild Horse Fund (CWHF). They watch from afar, as all visitors should, and only intervene if it is a life-threatening situation.

The horses attract thousands of visitors each year who hope to see them grazing on native grasses, cooling off in the ocean on hot days, or if they are really lucky a foal with its mother.

CWHF shared that there have been four colts and six fillies born so far this year and all are doing well. They believe a couple more will be born yet this year. In a post on Facebook, they wrote, "This year, we had four born in April, three born in May, one in June, and two in July."

One of the foals born in July was a black filly with a white star. She was pictured alongside her mom on the beach seeking reprieve from the flies and heat.

Another was being taught a vital lesson - butt to the wind.

Others have been spotted napping, grazing, and even kicking up their heels. Some of the images shared by CWHF were taken with a binocular lens as to not disturb the horses and to follow the law of staying at least 50 feet away.

The foals are adorable but please do not attempt to touch or feed them or any of the wild horses. This is for their safety as well as yours. It is against the law and violators will be prosecuted.
