Animal shelters in central Texas have taken in countless lost and displaced animals since the devastating flash flooding occurred on July 4th. 

Dogs and cats continue to arrive as search and rescue crews continue to search the impacted areas for survivors. 

These frightened and sometimes injured animals are brought to safety at the shelters where they are receiving the medical care, food, and shelter they need until they can hopefully be reunited with their families. 

Greater Good Charities is on the ground providing local animal shelters and displaced families with pet food and supplies. Your donations are making this vital aid possible, so please continue to help people and pets impacted by the deadly flooding. 

While there have been some happy reunions, there are still many animals who are waiting to be claimed. Kerrville Pets Alive shared that all found animals will stay in the area at local rescuers or with local fosters "indefinitely", giving their owners ample time to claim them. 

Hill Country Humane Society shared a way for people to help a find a lost pet or reunite a found one by uploading a photo to PetcoLoveLost.org.

Animal shelters will continue to be a safe haven for rescued pets with the goal of reuniting them all with their families. In the meantime, they need help to feed and care for them.
