Orphaned and Stray Animals Get Food and Care After Devastating Hurricane, Thanks to You

At the end of September, Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc across many southern states, including Georgia.

Homes were destroyed and countless lives lost. Communities came together to feed and care for the survivors and Greater Good Charities was on the ground providing essentials to those in need - thanks to your support.

Truckloads of pet food and supplies were delivered to shelters which handed out the resources to people in their area. Tift Animal Rescue was one of the shelters that your donations helped.

The devastating hurricane left many kittens orphaned and in need of constant care and formula replacement. Your donations helped provide the formula while dedicated foster families stepped up to provide the constant care these little felines needed.

The shelter told us, "With the formula that was provided, the fosters were able to offer the nourishment the animals needed to grow strong and stay healthy. With the help of their fosters, Tift Animal Rescue saved dozens of orphaned animals, nursing them back to health and preparing them for adoption."

Many of orphaned infant kittens have since found loving homes.

Back at the shelter, food bowls and dog food ensured the shelter and displaced dogs had full bellies.

The rescue not only used the food and supplies to care for orphaned and displaced animals, but they also made sure a man who arrived desperate for food for a stray colony of cats had all the food he needed.

They also learned that many of the stray cats needed medical care, which they helped provide - including spaying and neutering - and even found homes for several of the felines.

"For this man, what began as a desperate need for cat food turned into a lifeline for the animals he cared about so deeply. For the cats, it meant survival, health, and the chance to thrive in forever homes," recalls the rescue team.

Your support provided not only goods but hope. The supply hub at Tift Animal Rescue helped people and pets near and far. They shared, "For shelter staff, it meant the difference between turning away animals in need and welcoming them with open arms. For the animals, it meant full bellies and better health."

Together with Greater Good Charities, 140 trucks filled with food, water, hygiene products, pet supplies, and more were delivered to some of the hardest hit areas after Hurricane Helene and Milton—delivering over $8.7MM worth of critically needed aid.

However, the need is still great as thousands of people and pets lost their homes and all their belongings. Donate now to continue to send supplies to help them get back on their feet as they rebuild.
