Air Force Veteran Surprised With New Car

Working in the military isn't like working in most jobs. The job comes with a lot of benefits, but it also has little flexibility and can be dangerous at times.

Many programs work to take care of veterans who choose to work in the military.

According to WLWT 5, Zachary Betsch served in the Air Force for eight years before settling down in Cheviot, Ohio.

Betsch is currently going to school, but he was having trouble making it to classes without a reliable car. He shared with the news outlet that he was relying on family members to get around since his car stopped working. Of course, that's not an ideal scenario.

U.S. Bank shared on Facebook that Betsch needed reliable transportation to get to and from medical appointments as well as his classes at University of Cincinnati’s Blue Ash College. He's currently working toward a bachelor's degree in IT.

Through their Driven to Serve program, U.S. Bank partnered with the non-profit Operation Homefront to gift Betsch with a 2022 Hyundai Tucson.

According to WLWT, Betsch was overwhelmed by the gift, and incredibly grateful. It's the nicest car he's ever had!

He said: "It's so new. And I'm just like, it was always the kind of vehicle that everyone else had, but I was always driving those second-hand vehicles that I had to get within a week because I had just moved to a different base. And so being able to see what is essentially a brand new car drive up and just handed to me is wild."
