Woman Gives Rescue Lizard A Home In Her Apartment And Watches Helplessly As He Grows 5 Feet

When Laurent agreed to take on Blue the regal green rescue iguana, he was a big boy, measuring some 3 feet in length. Little did she know that he'd end up growing another two whole feet!

Lauren lives in a Pittsburgh apartment and when she worked at an animal shelter, she met Blue.

In an interview with GeoBeats Animals, Lauren explained that Blue was found in a park in Pittsburgh and they believe he was abandoned by his former owners.

Iguanas like Blue aren't naturally found in Pittsburg or anywhere close, so it's likely that he had a family and they chose to dump him in the park.

Thankfully, Lauren noted that Blue was "very healthy when he was picked up by Pittsburgh Animal Control."

She added that "He needed a good home. He was just kind of hanging out there. I had the experience, so I caved."

Lauren set up a whole room in her apartment for Blue so she'd have plenty of space to walk around and stretch. Lauren is hoping that Blue's story will encourage people to adopt instead of shop and to take proper care of their pets.
