World's Tallest Dog, Zeus, Dies At Age 3

A Great Dane named Zeus earned the title of "World's Tallest Living Dog" by Guinness World Records in 2022 with a height of 3 ft 5.18 inches (7 feet when standing on his hind legs).

Sadly, the large fella has passed away, leaving a hole as big as he was in the hearts of his family and friends.

Zeus was recently diagnosed with bone cancer which resulted in amputation of his front right leg. According to Guinness World Records, "But in a devastating turn of events, the three-year-old pooch developed pneumonia after the operation and lost his life in the early hours of Tuesday 12 September."

He lived a full life, even though it was so short, in Bedford, Texas, with his family. He adored his human and canine siblings.

Due to his size, he received a lot of attention. His mom, Brittany Davis, shared, "Zeus was a truly special dog. He was gentle, loving, very stubborn but always happy to see his family and many, many friends on his adventures around Dallas & Fort Worth. Zeus packed a lot of life into three short years and was primed to beat cancer’s butt."

Zeus was such a good boy, and his only "mischievous" behavior was counter surfing for an extra snack. His larger-than-life personality was shared with the world on his Instagram page.

He spent his final moments surrounded by the team of vets and nurses who worked hard to save him and his loving family. "Zeus died with his head in his mom’s lap getting ear scratches and kisses until the very end," his mom said.

"Zeus had the absolute best doctors and nurses working around the clock to help him, but in the end, he was just too sick."

The family thanked everyone for their support and condolences. While it is difficult to imagine life without Zeus, they take comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain.

"We know that Zeus is in a better place now, running free and eating the good stuff off of the countertops in heaven. We will never forget him. Goodbye Zeusy, we love you! Cancer sucks!"

The gentle giant will be greatly missed by all. Rest in peace, Zeus.
