CARIBBEAN BEES IN CRISIS
Hurricane Beryl, which topped out as a category 5 storm, has devastated several Caribbean nations. At least seven people were killed, and the majority of buildings on several islands were damaged. With a substantial amount of plant life wiped out, including millions of dollars worth of crops, beekeepers are in dire need of food for their colonies as they work to recover from the storm. We’re teaming up with Mann Lake to send emergency bee pollen substitute to beekeepers in need in Jamaica, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Barbados. Help us save vital pollinators in the Caribbean!
In the United States alone, beekeepers lost 48% of their honeybee colonies in 2022-2023; the second highest rate of loss ever recorded! In fact, one in four wild bee species in the U.S. is at risk of extinction, and they need your help NOW. If we don’t act fast, both our food supply and that of many of Earth’s creatures could be in jeopardy.
Because one out of every three bites of food in the United States depends on honeybees, much of our food supply would be lost without their pollination. Bees are responsible for over 130 of the fruits and vegetables we love – and we aren’t the only ones who need these plants and crops. Animals and insects everywhere depend on these plants and crops too!
That’s why Greater Good Charities’ Project Peril program is dedicated to saving the bees and protecting our food supply. When disaster strikes, your donation will help beekeepers around the world with supplemental feeding of sugar and pollen substitute where honey bees live.
How we've helped bees recently:
- Heavy rain and flooding in California prompted a rush distribution of bee pollen substitute to hungry hives in need.
- When Hurricane Ian struck the Florida Panhandle, wiping out natural forests and vegetation, on-the-ground organizations were provided with enough food to keep 1.7 billion bees healthy, plus an additional 2 months of bee pollen substitute to support 4,500 at-risk hives.
- The war in Ukraine is restricting bee colonies' access to healthy forage. Bees are waking up from hibernation to find they have nothing to eat. Over 30,000 lbs of pollen substitute and 11,000 lbs of sugar is being provided to sustain these important pollinators throughout beekeeping season.
Give now to protect our pollinating friends AND our food supply. Your gift of just $30 can feed an entire hive!

I felt this was a very worth cause to donate to. Without bees, we will be in big trouble….no food because of no bee pollination.
