Annie was once a trail horse in the mountains when her owner fell on hard times and could no longer afford her care. Efforts to rehome her were unsuccessful, and she continued to lose weight each day.

A rescue was notified and came to Annie's aid just in time. She was extremely malnourished and emaciated, nearly 200 pounds underweight. She began a strict refeeding program to slowly reintroduce food without overwhelming her body.

While Annie’s recovery is on the right track, she still requires ongoing treatment to fully regain her health. She will also need hoof care and dewormer once her body is strong enough. With proper nutrition and care, Annie can live a happy, healthy life again with a loving family.
