Thai Navy Officer Rescues Four Cats From A Sinking Boat

Four very lucky ginger kitties have used up one of their nine lives after surviving a horrific accident at sea.

Earlier in the week, Thai navy sailors came to their aid after it was discovered they had been left onboard a sinking ship that had caught fire.

When the ship had capsized, the crew were safely rescued and had been taken to safety, but there were still a few furry crew members that had been left behind.

As the navy officers drew closer to inspect the sunken ship for potential oil leakage, they quickly realized there were still the four cats in need of rescue.

As First-Class Petty Officer, Wichit Pukdeelon of the navy's air and coastal defence division stated to US News, "I used my camera to zoom in to the boat, and I saw one or two cats popping their heads out."

The four cats were all together in a tight cluster on one of the wooden beams of the downed boat.

One of the sailors swam out to the cats in a life vest and managed to bring them all back to safety by giving them a ride on his shoulders, keeping them above the water's surface.

The crew posted about the rescue on their Facebook page, and it quickly went viral. Many of the thousands of comments left on the post lauded the navy crew's actions in saving the cats.

As for the rescued felines themselves, they received care by the crew who rescued them - now they are at the navy command post on the island of Koh Lipe.

Now that is one lucky foursome! What do you think of this rescue? Let us know!
