My family and I had recently lost our 11 year old beagle, and we were all heartbroken. I was missing my dog terribly.

One day, I started looking for adoption centers in my country and came across this blog where people posted pictures of dogs they had found that needed a home. So, I started looking through the pictures when I came across one that really caught my attention: two really cute dogs that were staring at the camera with their big brown eyes, asking to be adopted.

I could not resist. I showed them to my family and, after a little bit, they all agreed to adopt one. I chose the black one. I had read somewhere that black dogs and cats are less likely to be adopted.

Venus had been abandoned as a pup in a landfill. This nice lady found her, but she already had, like, 30 dogs, so she could not take proper care of Venus and her sister. So, she was very grateful when I wrote to her and asked her if I could adopt Venus.

She had all kinds of trauma. When she first came home, she was extremely thin, all bones, and she could not walk. We took her to the backyard, where she just laid there. When we put a bowl of food near her, she moved a little bit but never stood up.

After several months, we got her back to her ideal weight. She learned how to play, because she had been neglected of that. She learned to be friendly and be around other dogs. When she first arrived, she would attack anyone and bark at anyone that would enter the house. She was a very defensive pup.

Now she is an angel, and I am so happy that she is part of the family. She is the princess of the house and is loved by everyone. Never again is she going to go through that.

Serena (her sister) was adopted by my grandma, so they both got their happily ever after.
