Entoto Beth Artisan is a fair trade Ethiopian social business dedicated to restoring the HIV/AIDS affected community on Mount Entoto. Their team is composed of the 120 women doing production, 15 women doing leather production, and 40 other staff led by the owners and the general manager. They dream of adding and empowering more women living with HIV and expanding design and production.
Handicrafts, primarily jewelry, has been the major source of income for many of the 131 artisans who are employed within the organization. The jewelry is made from used artillery shells and scrap metal found scattered throughout the former war zones of Ethiopia; in addition, they make products from recycled tires and Ethiopian coffee beans.
Entoto Beth Artisan has enable the women to have a more comfortable, less physically demanding work environment for the HIV-positive women. They also provide a number of literacy and math classes to the artisans, as well as programs for parents on nutrition, discipline, health and hygiene. For the children, the organization offers an after-school tutoring program.
