Animal shelters in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas are overflowing with animals. The shelters have taken in lost, displaced, and injured animals from the wildfires who have nowhere else to go.
Strong winds are fueling the massive fires and resulting in more animals arriving in need of a safe place to rest until they can be reunited with their families.

The shelters are doing their best to care for all the animals but desperately need help.
LA Animal Services shared on Facebook that they have over 1,500 animals at their six locations. They wrote, "we are extremely full, which is why we're asking our animal-loving community to adopt or foster now."
They even waived adoption fees on their shelter pets for a short period to help them find homes with people not impacted by the wildfires and free kennels for displaced dogs and cats. They are also in need of pet food and volunteers.
As the devastating wildfires continue to spread, the shelters are expecting more animals to arrive in need of shelter and care.

Your donations are helping provide pet food and supplies to those in need. Greater Good Charities has already delivered over 100,000 meals for displaced pets and hundreds of emergency packs and supplies.

Shelter across the state have also stepped up to help animals in need by taking in dogs and cat that were waiting for homes prior to the fire and opening up kennels in Los Angeles for animals in need.

Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) took in dozens of displaced animals from Pasadena Humane and is grateful for all the support from the community. They received over 300 applications to foster and volunteer and are busy processing them. They still encourage people to adopt and donate much-needed pet food.
San Diego Humane took in over 40 shelter pets from Pasadena Humane but also desperately needs foster and adopters. They posted, "When you adopt, you create shelter space and give a homeless pet the ultimate gift: a loving family. Hundreds of animals, including dogs transferred from Pasadena Humane, are available for adoption at our shelters."
